From Navy to Civilian Life – Case Study

Another client who achieved great results was Andrew*.

Andrew referred himself to us at the suggestion of a family friend. They were concerned about his deterioration in his mood and unhealthy lifestyle.

We found that Andrew had always been a high flyer and continued to set himself very high targets for achievement.  He was especially concerned about anyone knowing that we were working with him, but we could reassure him that our integrity is second to none. Confidentiality and discretion are cornerstones of our work. We prioritised meeting with him virtually.

Our assessment identified that Andrew had recently transitioned from the Navy to civilian life. He was a high rank in the Navy and during his service, he had undertaken 4 tours of duty.

Andrew’s new job involved project management in a global company. Having transitioned into such a high-level role in the civilian world, he recognised he had to prove himself within the first 6 months and had certain goals and targets which had to be met.  But things were not going well.

We worked with Andrew to understand what he needed to remain healthy and well. We then developed a programme across a 12-week period to help him regain his confidence and learn new skills. Our aim was that he successfully completed his 6-month probation and that his new role was sustainable. At the end of the programme, Andrew confessed that he had started out with a sceptical view about the benefits of working with us. He admitted that he had gone along with the process as he felt that he had no other option because the people he loved were extremely concerned for his wellbeing.

However, Andrew was really impressed with the process and found it highly beneficial.

Andrew is now doing extremely well.  He completed the programme we agreed on and our contact has now ended. He has secured a permanent position within the company and is thriving in his new work role and at home.

* Andrew is a real former client, but to preserve confidentiality all identifiable factors have been changed.
