What is MHFA?

MHFA badgeMental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an engaging, interactive and informative training course which enables people to feel more confident in identifying, understanding and helping someone who may be experiencing difficulties with their mental health.

The course focuses on:

  • the importance of looking after our own health

  • recognise warning signs of mental ill-health

  • increased understanding of, and encouraging conversation around mental health

  • reducing the stigma surrounding mental health

  • developing the key skills to support someone in everyday life or when in crisis – listening, reassuring, responding and signposting to the most appropriate services

  • empowering people to access the support they might need to help in their recovery
